Job description
The computer-aided technician ensures that a company’s
computer equipment is designed to comply with established guidelines. He or she
maintains all terminals and peripherals including printers, modems, personal
computers and data communication devices. Responsible for detecting and
detecting the nature of network errors using appropriate software, the computer
support technician is responsible for troubleshooting. Along with these duties,
he or she will repair and replace equipment when down. The position often
requires the person to be the authority to provide necessary equipment repairs
and technical assistance. The job also means keeping all computer supplies
useful and available. In some cases, the computer-aided technician will monitor
compliance with the company's policy regarding the use of the end-user network.
Requirements for the position
This position requires at least a high school certificate,
but often requires a college degree. Excellent computer skills are essential as
well as the ability to solve problems and problems. Customer service experience
is usually required. The computer support technician should have strong
communication skills and be able to talk to and support those employees who are
not technically competent.
The position also requires knowledge of basic hardware and
software functions and networking. If the computer support technician is
working in a call center, he should be able to type quickly and have the
writing skills to properly enter the data into the work ticket. Organizational
skills are essential.
Knowledge of both Macintosh and personal computer is also
essential. The computer-aided technician should be mentally motivated coming
into detail. People who want to become computer support technicians should be
willing to accept responsibility and trust. Knowledge of different versions of
Microsoft, from Vista through Windows 10 is also essential.
