In order to conduct a wireless site survey, you will need several wireless network monitoring tools. This process can help detect unauthorized devices and detect possible violations. The general steps of this process include:
Passive scanning of all channels within the 2.4 and
5 GHz ISM band. Ideally, the scan should cover the entire band, including
boundaries, which are not specifically and exclusively used for local use in a
given country. This phase includes the traffic model. The scanner will briefly
test one channel, test for traffic, and then drag it to another channel. When a
scanner is testing a particular channel, it does not see any other channel and
ignores any traffic by moving to an alternate channel.
