Entry
requirements
There
are no special requirements for being a telecommunications technician. However,
many employers prefer to hire telecom technicians who possess or are working to
achieve a qualification such as the New Zealand Telecommunication Certificate
(Level 2, 3 or 4).
Secondary
education
There
are no special requirements for secondary education to become a
telecommunication technician. However, math, physics and construction and
mechanical technologies are useful.
Personal
requirements
Telecommunication
technicians must be:
practical, fast and efficient
foolproof, attentive to detail
responsible, attentive and attentive to
safety
good at solving problems
good communicators
able to work well in groups and alone.
